ReWilding Conversations Episode 07:
How To Practice Mindfulness In Nature
Have you ever noticed your mind becoming instantly more quiet and peaceful just by going outside?
Here’s a quick experiment to try out:
First, pay attention to how you’re feeling right now… What is your current state of mind? Are you feeling relaxed? Are you stressed out? What is your energy level?
Next, go outside and sit quietly in nature for 5-10 minutes. Focus on being present with your senses. Watch the birds, listen to the wind rustling through, feel the sunshine on your face.
And finally notice again, how are you feeling now? Notice how your state of mind changes from being present in nature for just 5-10 minutes!
I sometimes call this exercise, ‘The 5 Minute Naturalist Vacation’ because it has such profound and palpable results for relieving stress & anxiety, while boosting creativity & clarity.
Most people feel an immediate and dramatic shift in their state of mind just by sitting quietly in nature for as little as 5-10 minutes. Isn’t that amazing?
