Domestic animals have a lot to teach us about bird language.

I learned this one year when I was living on an old homestead in Duvall Washington by taking care of ducks & chickens.

I had already begun tuning into how the ducks & chickens would alarm when predators like Hawks & Owls were nearby, but there were other times when they seemed to be alarming and yet I couldn’t see what they were alarming at.

So this story comes from one fateful day when I learned the hard lesson of at least one secretive animal that might have been causing some of those alarms.
